Why we built it
We watched the same dispute play out from both chairs — and noticed the same thing every time: it was never really about who was right. It was about who could show what happened.
Renting still runs on memory, screenshots, and phone calls. Almost every other part of life has moved on. So we built the tool we wished we'd had: one shared record of a tenancy — the application, the lease, the condition of the unit, the rent, the notices — dated as it happens and confirmed by both sides, so that if a hard question ever comes, the file already exists.
We still believe what we wrote on day one: good tenants and good landlords deserve to find each other. The difference now is how we get there — not ratings or reviews, but records. Facts that work for whoever earned them.

The founders
Co-founder · Winnipeg, Manitoba
Brent has spent his career building software for the web, and his evenings and weekends being the landlord — a long-time Superhost who has handed over more sets of keys than he can count. Optimized Rentals is what happened when the developer and the host turned out to be the same person: every walkthrough, receipt, and notice in the product started as something he needed for a real unit.
Co-founder
Andrew is a Commerce grad with deep experience in sales, marketing, and operations — the side of the business that turns a good tool into something people actually adopt. He keeps Optimized Rentals honest about what landlords and tenants will really do on a Tuesday night, and he's usually the founder on the other end when you email us.
